Jacques Quinet

Jacques Quinet was a French furniture maker. He was born in 1918 in France where he studied architecture. After an apprenticeship at a cabinet-maker’s he had chosen career of a furniture designer. His formal training as an architect allowed him to create sleek and elegant objects regardless of their size. In the late 1940’s he developed a distinct style by reducing the neoclassicist French ornaments to a bare minimum, emphasising instead the expensive materials, graceful proportions and streaming forms.
