Babkin Vladimir

1960

Vladimir Babkin was born in 1960 in Aktyubinsk, Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Faculty of Geography of the Kazakhstan State University. He worked at the Institute of Geography, photographed in his spare time, on expeditions and business trips. In 1989, he participated in the exhibition 150 years of Photography in the Manezh exhibition hall (Moscow). In the 1990s, he began working with various magazines as a photographer. From 2004 to 2010 he taught photography at his own school. The main theme of his work is the daily life of ordinary Soviet people. Currently combines photography with painting technique. He lives and works in Almaty.

Babkin had solo shows in Almaty every three years: Deja Vu at the Kasteev State Museum of Art in 2010, Flowers in 2013, and a solo show at the Cube art space in 2016.
